Officers were on patrol in the 3900 block of Shelley Drive when they saw two people with flashlights near the driveway of a home around 4:05 a.m. on July 1m, Lower Moreland police said.

After also hearing two car doors close, the officers kept an eye on the suspects, who were then seen walking away from the driveway and into a gray Hyundai Elantra with a heavy tint, they said.

The vehicle was registered to Jaliel A. Johnson, 24, of Philadelphia, police learned.

Officers stopped the car and spoke with the driver and smelled what they said was marijuana.

Johnson was behind the wheel, and apparently gave officers a fake name along with his real ID, before admitting that he lied, police said.

He also had a passenger in the vehicle, who was later identified as Haronn Washington, 19, authorities said.

Officers arrested the pair after discovering drugs and drug paraphernalia on them both. Johnson also had an active warrant out of Philadelphia, police said.

An officer investigating the area also confirmed that vehicles had been rummaged through, they said.

Both have been charged with theft, loitering, and possession of drugs, police said.
